Re: Recovery and stance training
No situps/crunches? I see good mornings... but no abs. Did you add those at another time, later? Adductor flies WITH the isometrics? All the advice I have gleaned so far has been that the adductor flies build strength for the split isometrics, and to do them as preparation for the isometrics. Would ...

Re: HELP - injuries but no increased flexibility
So, I have decided to restart everything over. Yes -- I am strong, I have noted the increased strength since I started working out in earnest a couple of years ago. But, obviously, there is a certain amount and kind of strength that muscles need in order to withstand either the isometrics or the lar...

Re: Work out to exhaustion
I think this is going to be similar to Kurz advice on isometric training. You have to periodically test your body's reaction to this type of stretching. The same can be done for strength training. Make sure you have a good foundation and are training the basics long enough before attempting. When y...

Re: Recovery and stance training
I read your questions when you posted them, but I don't have that DVD and so probably couldn't give a good enough answer. As for your first question, I think it is okay to do some very light dynamic leg swings. Only what is comfortable and will make your legs feel a little looser. You just want to ...

Re: Recovery and stance training
*bump* Is there no one on this forum? In regard to my first question, above, After attempting some dynamic flexing leg raises to the side, I decided to just wait it out. I could feel twinges in my hips, and I don't want to give myself a real injury. But, in regards to the other question... no one ha...

Work out to exhaustion
In a couple of the articles on Stadion.com, Tom talks about working some exercises to exhaustion. In my (anecdotal) observation of myself and others, this is exactly the type of activity which invites injury, or at least several days of stiffness -- things that Tom seems to want to avoid. So, since ...

Recovery and stance training
Hi, I am reviewing the "Stretching Clinic" DVD, which has lots of good info in it. I am figuring out how to conduct my workouts, changing exercises around, to better accommodate the stretching and exercise progression that is illustrated on the DVD. Among two very basic things that I obviously have ...

HELP - injuries but no increased flexibility
Sorry for the long post. I hope someone can give me a hand with this. Hi all, I am new to the forum, but over the past few years I have tried off and on to use the techniques in Thomas Kurz book Stretching Scientifically, 3rd ed. I had just about given up on it, then I stumbled on this forum by mist...
