Older individuals will have more success focusing on pnf stretching and exercises that build adductor stregth like adductor flies, rather than passive stretching. If muscle is stronger it can stretch further. Passives are not really helpful to gain flexibility but to maintain it. Use pnf and adducto...

I chose to do the method Mr. Kurz identifies as the method he used to achieve the results show in the book (tensing for 5 seconds each time you move feet out, and tensing for 30 seconds for widest part at the end). I have been using heavier ankle weights (2 x 5kg) on the adductor flies. I find an easy way to increase weight for the flies is to get a second pair of ankle weights and wrap them around your foot, so you have one on your ankle and one around your foot
