You can probably stick in an aerobic endurance workout on Thursday.

Website on Running

I recently found this website and it has some useful information on how to start a basic running program. There beginner program helps people who have not run before to run 3 miles in around 30 minutes in just two months. Just something to look into. http://www.coolrunning.com/engine/2/2_3/index.sht...

Re: speed roundhouse question

A boxer can throw an uppercut, throw a hook, and any punch in between. As long as the same rules to throwing the punch correctly have been applied(guard up,no swinging, crisp technique, etc) it's not a sloppy technique,it's perfectly valid. Some of these punches have been used so often that they've been ...

Re: speed roundhouse question

I am not a taekwondo-ist, but this sounds like very sloppy technique. I don't find alternating roundhouse kicks any harder than repeated kicks on the same leg. Are you quite sure these people are not performing a completely different type of kick? I know what your saying. Throwing regular alternati...

speed roundhouse question

I have always had a hard time performing consecutive alternating roundhouse kicks. Like throwing three roundhouses while walking forward (right, left, then right leg again). My speed while doing alternating roundhouses is ok but I never seem to be comfortable while doing them. I currently do several...

Re: is high rep/low weight bad for martial arts?

im only 17 though..and what strenghting exericses with arms should i do? i have read somewhere that thigns such as bicep curls have no place in a martial arts programme, as they are for show. without weights you can do pushups, hindu pushups, one arm pushups, one arm hindu pushups, handstand pushup...

If you are going to spend the money on some the equipment they have (which is pretty pricey) then you would be better off getting one of those massage/vibrating chairs. You can use it when your not training and, if you want, use it before, in between, and after you stretch to loosen up a bit more. I...

Re: Question about my strength training routine

I just started running again about three weeks ago (when I could barely finish a mile and a half in 20 minutes) and am working to have 8 minute miles and see if this is sufficient for my training and if not I'll go lower. I also forgot to mention that I want to be able to run three miles a session ...

Re: Question about my strength training routine

Ok. Forgive me but I'm just a little confused. I've read so much in such a short period of time that it get's jumbled :) When you talk about "muscle endurance" you're talking about doing low weight high reps. Right? And when you refer to "aerobic endurance" you're talking about how fast or long one...

Re: Question about my strength training routine

1) at what point is my aerobic fitness level sufficient to begin strength training? I run 3x a week on the treadmill (5 minutes warm-up and cool down and 12 minutes running fairly fast). If you are following column #19, then you would gauge when your ready from your muscle endurance instead of aero...

Re: "Lengendary Abs" and abdominal strengthening

So, would you agree that I could use routines in "Legendary Abs II" as a template and work from them and simply drastically increase the number of reps (as long as I work lower abs first followed by upper abs)? That seems ok for now just listen to your body when you start adding the reps and you wi...

I'm thinking perhaps I will put up some photos so that you can tell me if I'm on the right track. That won't be necessary. The main reason that you are probably having problems staying parallel is because your inner thighs are still very tight. Have you been doing the recommended exercises for the ...

Oh man. I did not think my comments on bent legged side splits would worry this many people. If you read stretch yourself column #2 again you will find this paragraph: Another way of finding the correct alignment is to use the horse-riding stance as the initial position for your isometric stretches ...
