I was one of the most frequent posters here in years past so I'll just relate my own story. I've just been overwhelmed with a lot of things (don't worry -- these are good things) in my life this year so posting to internet forums has dropped completely off my list of priorities. While I have continu...

Why are you using a Smith machine for your squats?

Nichelle, I'm not qualified to comment on muay thai so I'll focus my attention on (my analysis of) Mr. Kurz's roundhouse kick. Having the pivoting foot rotate through a complete half-circle allows you to get an awful lot of your hip into the kick. The video Power High Kicks with No Warm Up! explains...

The answers to most of your questions can be found in the that series of articles, not just article #22. You should look through them all, or at least the ones that talk specifically about strength training. The last few paragraphs of Article #21 are a good place to start.

Okay, here's an update. I stumbled upon a five-part series about improving posture that seems reasonable to me. It's fairly technical and requires you to diagnose your own postural defects. I think we'd need Mr. Kurz to weigh in on whether the authors are correct with all this. It sounds plausible t...

Ok so, I know Squats and Deadlifts use weights, but what are Abductor Flies? Are they used with weights? How do you do them? You know what dumbbell flyes (for the chest) are? A d ductor (not a b ductor) flyes are the same thing, but with weights on your ankles. Also, what variation of the Squat is ...

Cyan, while I suspect that weak back muscles (including the traps) may play a role, I suspect that an awful lot of posture is learned. If you want to try the weight training approach, I would suggest doing different types of shrugs, not just the standing ones that everyone knows about (get Kelso's S...

Shawn, let me start by saying that I have no experience in MMA whatsoever (I do tae kwon do) so take what I say with a huge grain of salt. I would guess that the grappling aspect of MMA requires a lot of lateral stability that you have probably lost since that is typically not required for most ever...

Re: Overdone horse riding stance

I overdone it with weights. My knees hurts, mostly the left. It is not very painful but it is annoying for two weeks. Do you know how you hurt your knee? Your post talks about weights but the subject refers to horse riding stance. Also, a joint injury isn't a sign of "overdoing" it with weights; it...

uss, if you are even thinking about surgery, you really need to discuss this with a competent doctor. Personally, I wouldn't trust any diagnosis that a stranger gives me on the Internet. I was confused by your message. Are these old injuries that have become problems recently or have you been suffer...

Mr. Kurz, thanks for the update. That's too bad about the bonus features. Would you consider making the bonus footage available for download from the internet? You could password-protect the file and that password would only be given to people who purchase the DVD. I agree that the bonus footage sou...

I think Kit, DanBor, Dragon, et. al have already provided most of the main reasons why. Another possible reason is that Mr. Kurz's manner and responses rub some soft-skinned individuals the wrong way. As someone who is increasingly revolted by the stench of entitlement that permeates the self-procla...

Why on earth did you guys start a brand new topic instead of appending your comments to the existing thread?

As far as an answer to your question, why not email Mr. Kurz directly?
