Do fast and half squats reduce hip and thigh flexibility?
Do fast and half squats reduce hip and thigh flexibility?
Mr. Kurz had said in his articles and books that martial artists should do deep squats, or squats on whole feet until your hamstrings rest on your calves, if wanting to improve flexibility or maintain great flexibility in the legs and hips, since with deep squats you move through the full range of motion. With fast and halfs squats; however, you don't and are not supposed to move through a full ROM as there would otherwise be a power reduction in the jump. So I am not sure if it would still be okay for a martial artist who wants to be able to kick high and/or do the full splits (both front and side) to practice fast or half squats in a workout, or if it is actually a bad idea as it could jeopardize one's overall flexibility in the legs and hips?
