A problem: sliding feet in straddle leg stance\horse stance

Post by PiotrS »

Hi,
I have a problem with sliding feet when standing in deep squat close to side split. In isometric stretching after adductors contraction I cannot relax fully these muscles because of sliding feet apart. I train on wodden floor or carpet. I tried to use various shoes and barefoot.
Any suggestions ? Should I buy specialized wrestling shoes as Thomas Kurz uses ?
I would appreciate any help.
Best wishes,
Piotr

Have you tried exercising on rubber flooring, like that used in many weightlifting gyms, or on a yoga mat?

Dear Tom,
thank you for your advice. In the meantime I have bought wrestling shoes and there is a huge improvement. The ankles are secured and I have nice grip on carpet, a little worse is on wooden floor. I think it will be even better when my adductors become stronger.
Best regards,
Piotr
