Please someone awnser me
Re: Guys , I have a very big problem in my flexibility !!!
Well, first of all your age is not the problem, especially at 16!
You say you stretch often, but with not much results. My first guess would be in regards to your stretching routine. Have you studied Kurz' method in his book and DVD?
It's not so much about what kind of stretches you do, or how much you stretch, but about your overall training routine- strength, flexibility, order of exercises and placement in your workout, etc..
Perhaps right a short detail of your typical workout routine for us to evaluate.

unfortunately i live in Morocco so i can't buy the book ( Banks dont allow people to send money outside the country )
i stretch the hip flexors and the hamstrings and all legs muscles , this is what i do in my stretches :
the betterfly
i touch my toes with my hands ( of course my knees are straight ) untill i don't feel pain but later when i try to do this i feel the pain again like i never done it before
and many other things that my trainer teached us in kickboxing gym
Re: Guys , I have a very big problem in my flexibility !!!
Regardless of the stretching routine you're following,my guess would be it's a conditioning issue.
I know many people who have experienced the same as you describe and had it myself when i had a long lay off from training and then returned.....
The only way you're currently able to reach your maximal(at this time) flexibility range of motion is with lots of preperation-Warming up,lots of different stretches,etc......This allows you to ease into the stretch over the course of your workout....Then later on when you try and reach this position again,(i'm guessing without a full workout?)you can't.
More strength/conditioning will help you see an improvement....If you search this site you will find info on high rep lunges, squats, back extentions, leg raises,etc....
As for whether you will ever be able to achieve a full split.I'm afraid no-one will be able to tell you that over the internet...
Hope this helps,
Dragon.

Without knowing what is causing the pain in his hips,is it possible to guarantee he will be able to perform a full split?
Having the potential to do the splits now(based on a test),and the ability to actually do the splits in the future, are two seperate things.

Definitely not.dragon wrote: Without knowing what is causing the pain in his hips,is it possible to guarantee he will be able to perform a full split?
Assuming that one performs the test correctly, feeling pain while doing the test (even though hips and legs are in the "passing" position) means either reaching one's anatomical limitation of ROM or a chronic irritation of the involved structures from bad stretching. If that chronic irritation persists, a joint damage is likely to follow.

Thanks guys , that was really useful
can the doctor tell me if i can do a full split ?
could the doctor know if i have some hips problems or something ?
if as Mr.Kurz said "or a chronic irritation of the involved structures from bad stretching"
Can that be solved ?

Could a doctor tell you if you have hip problems?-Yes.Muhammad wrote:can the doctor tell me if i can do a full split ?

From a personal point of view,my opinion is people get too hung up on achieving the splits. It's great to be able to do if it's a goal of yours and it will help athletic ability.......
Will it answer all of your training problems though? Will it turn you into a great fighter/kicker as soon as you achieve the splits?....No.
So my point is,even if a doctor told you you'd never be able to do the splits, what would you do?..Give up training?....Train to be as good as you can be in all aspects.....If you can never do the splits, there are many other goals to achieve in your training.

Yes, if the the doctor remembers anatomy and is intelligent enough to relate that knowledge to your exercises.Muhammad wrote:can the doctor tell me if i can do a full split ?
Yes, unless the doctor is incompetent.Muhammad wrote:could the doctor know if i have some hips problems or something ?
Yes--by ceasing to do whatever caused the irritation, for example, the wrong stretches.Muhammad wrote:if as Mr.Kurz said "or a chronic irritation of the involved structures from bad stretching"
