Need some "games" for martial arts
Hello friends! As I see I am number one in this chapter to post. I don't know if this is the right place to post my question but I'll give it a try. I wonder if you can help with some strength games for my karate class.
I know a few, but I would like more for developing the student's stamina, strength and speed (generally speaking). I shall wait for your replies.

There are a great many games for simultaneously developing fighter's condition and skill. Give specific training tasks or goals and I will try to list some suitable games.

Wow! Thanks for replying Mr Kurz, it's an honour. The reason for not knowing martial arts games for developing the student's phisical qualities it that I am a young senpai and I have still much to learn. Well, I do not want to spread boredom amongst my students, so if you could help with a few examples I would be most gratefull.

Friday, at training, I experimented a little game which I read about on the net: prison push-ups (with a deck of cards). Only that I changed the opush-ups with squats. The students loved it.

Doing push-ups is just an exercise--using a deck of cards does not make it a game. Here are examples of games for developing speed and reaction that are suitable for karateka:
Catch the mouse
Opponents face each other. One holds a light object (a ball of paper, for example) in an outstretched arms and releases it. The other has to catch it be fore it hits the ground.
Push-up fight
Face each other in a push-up and try to slap your opponent's hands while not letting him slap yours. Must keep the trunk and legs straight in the proper push-up position.
Fight to touch shoulders
Fight to touch feet
In this one opponents try to touch each other's feet with their feet. They can have a hold on each other (by clothes or by hands), or not.
Fight to touch thigh
Grasping and lifting opponent's leg
All of the above four games can be done with opponents gripping each other's hand or without.
Games for developing strength that are suitable for karateka:
Escape wrist grabs
Lift opponent by the thigh
Can be done just like “Grasping and lifting opponent's leg” plus lifting the opponent on one's shoulder (against his resistance) or it can begin with one already holding the thigh and on command one tries to lift while the other resists the lift.
Games for developing strength and muscular endurance that are suitable for karateka:
Tug-of-war
Neck pulling
Opponents hold each other by the neck (one or both hands) and try to push and pull each other out of fighting area.
Sumo
Push or pull your opponent out of the fighting area or make him touch the ground with any thing but the sole of his feet. Variations: both opponents squat, or no grabbing--only pushing with shoulders or thighs (either when standing or squatting, or on all four).

Dear Mr. Kurz, I just want to thank you for the examples given. As for the book you're reccomending, how may purchase it. I do not have a credit card, and I would like to have it in my bookshelf. Also, in the near future, I would like to order your book and video about stretching, but I don't know how. Please can you give me some pointers?
