i had my first kickboxing fight on saturday.
i won the fight and i also won fight of the night too!
but ive felt deflated and depressed ever scince.
i spoke to my instructor and he said that it is normal and that
alot of people get it.
i can understand why, ive been training hard for 2 months and what
with all the emotions and build up i can see why its such a down
when all this is suddenly taken away.
have any of you guys sufferd with this? and if so how did you deal with it?
p.s. i have ordered a dvd of the night and will put my fight online for
you guys to see when i get it

Re: post fight depression
I am not a doctor, just sharing my personal experience as I have had depressions and anxiety for sometime. The best way to get over anxiety and depression is to take a break from your regular schedule, go out, and take good sleep. This helps in clearing the mind and try consulting a specialist who can suggest you as how you can get over your problem. Rather than going on drugs, one should look for the reason behind there problem . Keeping yourself busy and changing the schedule also helps sometimes to get over stress and depression.
Re: post fight depression
Speaking somewhat from personal experience and also from what I was told by a respected psychologist, after a significant release of the "feel-good" neurotransmitters (dopamine, norepinephrine, and serotonin) and after the exciting event is over, your body may restrict the release of those neurotransmitters to below your day-to-day levels causing a depressed feeling. It's analogous to the sugar high and crash.
If begin to feel down after an exciting event, I try to do something moderately fun. It helps.
