injured inner thigh

Post by piyushj »

hi,
i was stretching for front splits one day. but i stretched it a bit too far & probably hurt my inner thigh. i felt the pain in the night & was unable to walk properly. after 5 days, though i can walk & can raise legs to about 90 degrees sideways but the pain is not completely gone. should i try mild stretching exercises? or should i give it complete rest? secondly what can i do to make it heal faster?

any help/tips regarding this would be helpful. if possible plz leave messages at piyush_cse at yahoo messenger

go to a doctor!

Go to a doctor and get checked out before stretching. You don't want to damage yourself further!!

Agreed. I know I sound like a broken record but I believe it is important for everyone to get their injuries checked out by a doctor. You can wait a few days to see if it heals on its own but if it's feeling bad more than 2 or 3 days in a row then get it checked.

Please note that the body can heal itself in many cases without your intervention. But like all things in life, there is a trade off. The pro is that you don't have to expend any time, money, or effort in getting healed. The con is that because you aren't expending any effort, your body will choose how it heals yourself and you don't get a say in the matter. In particular, you don't get a say in how the scar tissue is laid down and the body isn't going to try to figure out how to do it in such a way as to minimize the loss of flexibility.

Just get it checked out. A $20 co-pay and taking an hour off work is a small price to pay in the long run.
