At home treatment
At home treatment
Hi guys! I was just curious about what treatment you reccomend for stretched muscles. I mean to treat oneself at home. Is the RICE method ok? Or do you reccomend something else? Thanks alot!
CrazyBoy, I'm sorry to hear about the injury.
I'm no expert on this stuff, but it's my understanding that massage therapy can reduce the amount of scar tissue that your body will attempt to lay down when soft tissues get damaged. RICE only helps reduce the swelling and won't be sufficient. Normally I'd suggest getting yourself to a doctor ASAP but that's not an option for you. I think the next best thing is to find a massage therapist who has experience treating athletes.

Those consequences can be reduced signficantly by getting some deep tissue massages during the early days of the injury. You can do a Google search and find out more. This won't really take the place of a doctor or Applied Kinesologist, but it's certainly better than nothing. Scar tissue will be a hinderance to your future athletic goals. Massage isn't cheap and this deep tissue work isn't real fun to sit through, but my personal opinion is that it's worth it.
Good luck. Don't kick yourself over getting injured or not being able to see a doctor. Just do what you can, such as getting some deep tissue massage.
