ACL

Post by Jan_ »

Hello Thomas Kurz,

I started my rehab right after the ACL reconstruction with a great progress and success. My doctor and therapist are satisfied to see my healing. My therapist and I often talk about martial arts and rehab applications. He has no experience in martial arts but he is very interested in. I gave him your book ´Stretching Scientifically`to read and he now intergrated some exercises in his rehabplan...and his patients feel better afterwards.
Now, we look for the keypoint where I am able to restart my martial arts training in a couple of month.
How should I start? Which exercises are usefull and simple enough?
What can you recommend?
For now and the next few weeks I practice the regular exercises like bike-spinning, massages, light weightlifting, aqua-training etc. which helps a lot...

Thanks for your nice internetforum which gives me many advices.

All the best

Jan

Ask your therapist about including in your rehab such exercises as standing and moving in increasingly lower stances, and practicing low kicks--eventually while moving in low stances.
