Why?

Post by CrazyBoy »

Hi guys! I just recovered from a hip flexor injury and restarted stretching. Today I encountered a small problem (I can't say it's a problem cause it does not cause any pain). As I performed the toes-up side split (after doing warm-up by adductor flies and afterwards both full front splits), I noticed that my right buttock was tensed and the left one was not. Does anyone know why? Thanks in advance!

I'm going to assume that it was your right hip flexor you injured.

The reason being, that the hip flexor is the antagonist to the gluteus maximus.

If the hip flexor is still injured(or you are worried about injuring it again),the opposing(antagonist) muscle will contract to protect it.

Thanks Dragon! But I guess that I always noticed this: that my right gluteus is more tensed than the left one, before my right flexor was injured. Don't know why.
Ok, the hip flexor injury could be an option! But could a week back influence the abnormal tensing?

It could, but i'd imagine you'd already know if you have a weak back when performing other activities such as weight training and kicking.
A trapped nerve could be an option.
