Taekwondo's 540-degree spinning kicks

Post by wenhung »

Hi,

Are there exercises to build the capability to perform the 540-degree (or some people call it 720-degree) spinning whip / back kicks in taekwondo?

Thanks :)

Probably the best type of exercise for jumping height would be plyometrics---do a search on the web, and you'll get a ton of info.

An example would be to stand on a box about two feet high, jump off and land with both feet on the ground, and immediatlely jump up again.

Mike,

Thanks very much. That really gives me a new perspective. I tried a bit of the depth jump as you describe and felt great. However, I have a little problem with my right hamstring so I shall try to fix it before jumping to plyometrics.
