i`ve posted some posts here about my knee and back injury.
About my knee-I underwent an arthroscopy and now its only my sciatica whic is bothering me.
I have glutei pain.
1.My surgeon recoomended that I take DIATHERMY and ULTRASOUND on my low back where the nerve is pinched for around 3-5 weeks.
Wear a lumbar belt for 3 months and not engage in heavy exercise for a similar period.
And do certain exercises for my abs, back (and knee)
2.A physio recommended that I take DIATHERMY on my back, ULTRASOUND on my glutei.
No back support belt.
3.Another Physio said that theres no point in taking ULTRASOUND or DIAT.. for sciatica.
Hes recommended stetches and light exercises.
Hes doing this thing called TRACTION-where my trunk will be stretched or something similar.
Hes also going to apply pressre on certain parts of my back and release the nerve.
Sciatica-the best treatment?
I only know a few people who've had sciatica.
One of them wore a lumbar belt and said it greatly improved his condition( i don't know whether it actually helps the condition or just relieves the pain).
The other said the exercises given to him by a physio(and later, regular training) also helped.
Sorry,that's all i know..

Hey!
About the guy who said exercises which did help him- if its not too much trouble coulkd you plz ask him which exercises he was performing?
Another thing-
Sciatica refers to a bulging disk pressing against the sciatic nerve, right?
I was going through my log and noted that even when I was doing heavy presses, partial presses, benches etc my glutei never hurt me.
But performing leg curls does bring that feeling to my R glutei.
So what do you think is up?
I have this feeling that my R glutei is much weaker than my L.

The guy said that he performed Tai Chi.It helped keep him mobile without any rapid/jeking movements. He also massage of the lower back/legs helped him a lot.
From what i've read, sciatica is a symptom, not a diagnosis.Possible causes of sciatica are lumbar sprains,SI injuries, disc problems,or trigger points of the glutes. You need to identify exactly what the cause is.
As for leg curls:-I've never performed them(apart from maybe in my younger days)I think there are far better exercises that work your hamstrings/glutes/lower back.
