"Burning Thigh Pain"

Post by timmiller »

I've developed I guess over the last year or so, some kind of interesting pain on my right thigh. This has come about when doing left stretch up kicks and left snap kicks. I've been off and on with TKD for over two years. I'm 40 years old and am constantly about 25-35 pounds over weight, but still am very active. I'm not sure it has anything to do with warm up, before TKD class(2-3x per week), I do about 5 or 6 reps of ten front, side and back stretches per the video. I do have better flexibility- I can now reach both toes sittting down and standing bending over.

Last week, while doing stretch up kicks, i felt something "tear" which I've felt before, but this time it was more severe. I've got constant burning pain from just above the knee to my upper quad. I believe that there is also nerve damage, cause there is a bit of numbness all around that area. Advil helps me sleep. I'm concerned about more working out, so I'm not, but feeling myself getting tighter on that right side. I've made an appointment with an orthopedic but not for a month yet.

I've found this article:

http://orthoinfo.aaos.org/fact/thr_repo ... ead_ID=297

but a lot does not apply.

Any info or insight is extremely helpful.
Thanks in advance.

Sorry to hear about your injury.
You say Advil helps you sleep. If the pain is interfering with sleep then i'd say the best thing you can do rest until you've seen a good professional.

Thanx,
It itches a lot and is in a constant state of nagging burning, espically while wearing dress pants. I've been thinking of castor oil or something else topically.
