Bungee Cord

Post by iaincmm »

Hi,

In order to work on my kicking I would like to get hold of some bungee cord. Does anybody know of a supplier in the UK as I am struggling to find anything?

Thanks,
Iain

No not for pulldowns but for attaching to the legs when practicing the front kick for example, as is shown on the dvd 'High Power Kicks No Warm Up'.

Thanks,
Iain

Can't see it on the website but they used to have it in the catalogue.

I seriously doubt that kicking with a cord will do much improvement.
Just a marketing hype. "Hey, I got something new out there, buy it, it will help you"

You can buy bungee cord on large spools as replacement for worn cords that attatch to floor-to-ceiling speedballs so i wouldn't say it's being marketed as a kicking aid,or that anyone is making profit from it as such.

I found that the bungee cord kicks didn't have a noticable effect on power(i feel that if you want to kick hard you have to practice kicking harder) but it made a lot of difference to my muscular endurance/conditioning.

If you can throw 100 kicks with correct resistance you'll have no problem throwing 100 kicks without it.

This is a similar approach to Marciano and Ali "shadow boxing" up to their necks under water.

have you actually tried them?? I doubt it.

They are very good for improving the strength/power of your kicks because they provide resistance throughout the kick without overstressing the joints like ankle weights.

Hi,

I often use the latex gymnastic cord which I tie on my ankles between my legs. With this preparation I can move and kick without any limitations during my shadow boxing unit. And also, I can regulate the resistance of the cord by shorting or lenghten it

I recommend a low resistance because to much resistance can cause muscle stiffness in the hip area.

All the best

Jan
