Chosing a good quality skipping rope

Post by James Paterson »

Hello, I need a new skipping rope and was wondering if any of you knew what type of skipping rope is the best quality, most long lasting? Because I had a threaded ropey one and it frayed fairly quickly. I train at home so I am forced to skip on grass or concrete which I suppose damages the rope faster than usual. So what would be the best type of rope to get? Leather? Plastic? etc..

No jumping rope lasts long on concrete or grass. In my experience, the best solution is to jump on something very smooth--a piece of mat or a lacquered piece of plywood, preferably lying on some springy surface.

Ok, well I don't really have access to such things at the moment, nevertheless, what type of rope would you still recommend as the best quality for whatever surface?
