Hello everyone, I just purchased the DVD and the book recently. and have been doing the morning stretches and the workouts.
I would like to know if anyone can help me make a planned routine for my sport.
my main objective is to be flexible and to beable to do the front and side splits.
here's what I do everyday.. please help!
wake up
Morning warm up, joints, etc.
workout- dynamic exercises
isometric and relaxed stretches whenever i can during the day?
before sleep
warm up joints
dynamic exercises
I don't know if I'm doing this correctly.
Thanks!

Re: Help on exercise routines for hockey goalie
Could you be a little more specific about what you mean by "planned routine for my workout"? Do you mean a stretching routine? Or a routine to get in shape for hockey? Or both?
Also, please be more specific about your warm-up, stretching exercises, and dynamic exercises. Specify exactly what you do each day.

Re: Help on exercise routines for hockey goalie
Oh I'm sorry. I meant a stretching routine. For off ice and on ice?
I do the same exact stretches on the dvd, the 1 isometric routine I do is where i just let my body weight take the splits, And I hold it for 5 sets of 1 minute holds.
off ice
Mondays-
Morning- warm up exercises followed by dynamic stretches, and the full workout on the dvd including relax stretches
afternoon- hockey practice
night- warm up exercises followed by dynamic stretches,
and 1 isometric box splits routine.
Tuesdays
same as Mondays, except I do weight lifting on my legs
Weds
morning routine
afternoon - dynamic stretches
night- warm up , dynamic stretches, and 1 iso split routine
Thursday
same as weds
Friday
Same as Weds
Saturday
morning routine
afternoon dynamic stretches,
evening= hockey game
before sleeping, the night routine of warm up, dynamic stretches, and 1 iso split routine
Sunday
Morning- warm up, dynamic , workout 1 on dvd,
afternoon - relax stretches
night- same night routine.
On ice exercises
I usually do relax stretches and stretch out my hips and legs
I don't know if this is good or bad,
Thanks for everyone's help,

Ok, it looks like you need to absorb a little more information. You are performing isometric stretches nearly every day, and on days when you don't perform them you're lifting weights for your lower body. Your legs/hips have no time to recover. So, my first recommendation is to review the DVD and see how often you should be performing isometric exercises and other strength exercises for your legs/hips.
Your order of exercises during the week appears improper. Second recommendation: Review the DVD (I believe it's in the final summary) for the appropriate order. You should also read Article 17 (from main page, click on "columns").
You indicate that you perform relaxed stretches for "on ice" days. Make sure you're performing the right stretches at the right time. The book and dvd contains that information.
In general, many of the articles Kurz has posted on this site are relevant to conditioning for any sport. I highly recommend that you peruse them.

Re: Help on exercise routines for hockey goalie
How can I get started playing hockey ? I've recently become a huge hockey fan and I want to play. I live in Massachusetts and have no idea how to get started. Does anyone know how or where I can get started playing hockey?
