To Mr.Kurz: DVD on teaching acrobatics and tumbling

Post by xtremeicefighter »

Dear Mr. Kurz:
I am interested to know what is the outcome of your survey for the "DVD on teaching acrobatics and tumbling". Will it be made? I am interested in this dvd. I have been taking TKD for 5yrs and want to learn such tumbling because I am interested in entering an extreme martial arts competition later on. And also to be a stunt actor. I feel this dvd would be great to have because I have a long ways to go for a gymnastics class, and also I would like to learn it fast. And Im sure it will be cheaper than taking acrobatic classes. But if this dvd won't be coming out any time soon or by next summer of 2006, I guess I might have to look elsewhere. I really hope it gets made though. Your reply would be greatly appreciated.

We decided to make this DVD and expect to release it in late fall of this year.

Thank you for your interest in this project.

Mr. Kurz,

Will the exercises require a partner or can they be done alone? I remember watching the videoclips and noticing that several drills seemed to require a partner to guide one's body when they were first learning. I'm interested in the material but will probably have to learn it on my own, without assistance from a partner.

Released this fall? Alright!!! I am very excited now! Not only will I purchase it, I will tell my friends and also TKD class mates who are also interested in it as well. Thank you for doing this project. I can see in the long run that this DVD will do well for people like myself who cannot attend a gymnastic course due to some reason. God bless you all for doing this project.

Both ways--as each way has its pluses and minuses.

Dear Mr. Kurz:
I'm assuming this dvd has been delayed? Any details of the new released date?

Initially this video was planned to be edited and perhaps even published in
December of this year. Unfortunately for us, but luckily for the acrobatics
instructors, they had a busy competition season this Fall and also had a movie engagement (they do stunt work too) so our initial schedule fell apart. We had to find the best time for all instructors to be available. We are making arrangements with them right now to shoot this video in April. If all goes as planned it should be released in May or June.

I am sorry for this delay. I am myself disappointed as I was looking forward to offer a new, exciting product to our customers.

I will keep you posted about any new developments.

Very interessted here too, just filled in the survey. Well, a bit dispapointing that it has been delayed, but then, april/may is a fine time to start practicing when the season is getting good for practicing outside. But still, I can't wait to get my hands on it.

We had several problems with this project, at all stages of production: changes of the shooting dates, scheduling conflicts during editing, and finally the most unexpected DVD authoring and mastering trouble (see info below).

Here is the latest update on the DVD:

The DVD is with our replicator now and on Monday I should see a sample disc. If all is well the replicator will proceed with pressing discs and we will have our Acrobatic Tumbling DVD in stock around November 20th.

The main cause of delay in getting this DVD ready for replication was my idea of including a bonus--a video of a workout for the general public, conducted by the same coach who teaches tumbling on our DVD. This extra video, for reasons still unknown, caused playback and navigation problems. After several tries and test discs I gave up and told our video authoring guy to drop this bonus video. Finally the DVD played with no problems so we could send it to the replicator.

I really wanted to add this bonus video of the workout for two reasons:

1. It shows how regular people, who are too old or not talented enough to be competitive acrobats, learn somersaults and other tumbling skills quickly, while having fun.

2. It shows warm-up and flexibility exercises for acrobatics that viewers of our DVD could incorporate into their workouts.

Alas, we could not make the DVD work with this bonus--too much data crammed on the DVD, I guess.

Mr. Kurz, thanks for the update. That's too bad about the bonus features. Would you consider making the bonus footage available for download from the internet? You could password-protect the file and that password would only be given to people who purchase the DVD. I agree that the bonus footage sounds very worthwhile.

Thumbs up for that idea Mark, one more sold with footage!
Now, when I KNOW there should have been one, it´s a pity if it cannot be bundled someway...

it sounds good. learning to somersault or even being able to vault over a small fence would be enjoyable to learn.
