Why are so few people here?

Post by Broncco »

I remmember Thomas Kurz add in magzine over ten years ago. I bought the book back than.
I move, lost the book and bought it again.
I know that over all this time, probably thousands and thousands people bought the books and videos.

Why are so few people regestered to this forum? Is it like this on purpose?

Well Broncco, I guess that this could be because most of the questions/problems regarding flexibility and other physical abilities have been answered and people don't bother regestering anymore. They just simply read the info displayed and voila! This is my opinion!

As far as i'm aware people who try to register aren't vetted or filtered out in anyway.People even used to be able to post without being registered(don't know if this is still the case).

I'd agree with that.

Also, there are people who still don't have access to a PC,and don't forget the people who buy the book, try it for only a week and then give up because they still can't do the splits.

What, people give up because they can't do splits in one week?

Yes, it's very likely. Some people see the pictures of TK or his customer's testimonials and figure that they found out a wonder-method.
They think that in a month or two they will be able to perform the splits with ease, but nothing's that easy.
I, for one, before starting to use this method, had to spent a whole year to make some huge progress in my flexibility. Every night I spent it stretching. While my friends were out having fun, I was stretching out. :D Don't want to seem/become a model (that went out wrong :D), cause other have done major sacrifices, comparing to the ones I did.

One thing that I especially like about this forum is that it is to the point. Unlike other forums, there is not mindless drivel or pages of insults to members (look at almost any other forum and most of them are just places for self promotion ie "I am great and you suck" - go to a column on stretching and the posts are about "my splits are great and yours suck").

This forum offers very useful information and advice, rather than unbased and unproven opinion.

The converse of that is, that there are less posts and also possibly less members. (And this really is a good thing, as you get what you came for here!). On this forum, if I go to the column on stretching, I actually find posts on how to improve my stretching! Strange to say but that is quite rare in other forums!

I agree with you. The posts on this forum are very helpfull. Here are a lot of usefull informations that really can make your life better (as a MA training).

Before I joined this forum I 've spend few month just reading all the topics. So when I actually joined it I have had some knowledge on how to train in general (and not just for the splits).
My training has totaly changed thanks to this forum and Stretching scientifically. I'm very thankful for that.

I hope this forum will continue to "deliver" such informations in the future.
I'm very thankful to some guys here that are taking their time and trying (daily) to help people.

Cheers.

Still I would expect allot more people to be regestered to this forum.
With all the stretching info and all.

i too want others to learn from this ocean of knowledge about stretching. :D and proper training.

In fact, answers by Mr Kurz himself (and nick 'dragon') are probably most insightful.

Hello all,

I´ve been reading this forum for ages, enjoying its valuable information along with Stadion news and columns - unregistered.
Somewhy this topic has been slippered outta my sight and I felt I have to register to "contribute" my appreciation for this fantastic source of information!
Like you said Broncco:

There must be a lot of people just reading without registering, like I was (BTW: check for amount of guests every time you log in, there´s always some).

Anyway, this was my first post, let this be my introduction as well - thank you Thomas Kurz & all you guys for your great help for me too - now "officially & registered" as well!

I hope I can also offer some additional informational value in return later

Tomi

Most of my questions were answered by reading other peoples posts and i can say pretty much all my improvement has come from this, without the advise on this forum i'd still be pressing on with the same old techniques and making little progress. The video is clear but not everyone adapts to it so quickly and easy. Thanks for the GREAT advise!

I think Kit, DanBor, Dragon, et. al have already provided most of the main reasons why. Another possible reason is that Mr. Kurz's manner and responses rub some soft-skinned individuals the wrong way. As someone who is increasingly revolted by the stench of entitlement that permeates the self-proclaimed greatest country on earth, I find Mr. Kurz's approach refreshing. He'll tell you what you need to hear, not what you want to hear. If you're doing something dumb, he will make that abundantly clear. Sadly, most people would rather feel good about themselves than actually make themselves good.

Mr. Kurz is a coach and a damn good one. He's not here to be your friend. He's not here to motivate you. He's not here to give you a shoulder to cry on, pat you on the head, and tell you that everything is going to be okay and that he's proud of you. He's here to make sure you've got the information you need to make the most of your training. I'd wager that many people just can't handle his direct approach.

I agree with you.

I'm sure he must be pretty tired of people constantly question his methods and always that: " I tried everything and still can't do splits, what's wrong with me?"
