I'm working towards doing full splits (currently a few inches off the ground in all directions).
I want to be sble to hold my legs straight up in the air when doing kicks. I mean extending my foot to 180-degrees vertical and holding it in place for several seconds.
How much flexibility is required to do this? I.E. will oversplits (exceeding 180 degrees) be necessary, and if so, by how much will I need to exceed 180?
I have included an image for illustration purposes. The athlete is Chloe Bruce, who can do front oversplits beyond 230-degrees.

Bump.
Anyone?
Is there a known difference between static flexility, and dynamic and active flexibility? I ask because I have seen people who can do full splits, but those same people cannot hold their leg vertical as in the image I posted above. Is this a common theme?
Thanks.
