I have been reasonably active my adult life. Recently started Tae Kwon Do with my daughter and really enjoy it. However, I would really like to get increased flexibility particularly in my hips for kicking. My hips are the only area of my body giving me resistance. All my other joints, knees etc are fine.
When I was in my teens and early 20's I had good jumping ability. I'm 5'-10" and I could dunk a basketball with a running start.
Can I acheive significant improvement in my hip and kicking flexibility and range of movement at age 42?
I am going to purchase materials from stretching.com,
Thanks

Re: 42 Years Old Seeking increased hip and kicking flexibil
Older individuals will have more success focusing on pnf stretching and exercises that build adductor stregth like adductor flies, rather than passive stretching. If muscle is stronger it can stretch further. Passives are not really helpful to gain flexibility but to maintain it. Use pnf and adductor flies to gain flexibility, and just use occasional passive stretching to maintain it.
