Lunges very tough
I am really trying hard. I can do abductor flys (almost 100 at a time with no weights), crunches (up to 200 - 4 x 50 sets), back extensions (are still poor), but what are really tough are the lunges. OMG. After doing 3 x 20 each with no weights (to front, to back, to each side) I couldn't walk for 4 days !! . I'm afraid to start with the squats. So...what to do? I am now confused as to when I should do what...and how slowly one should build up. Anyone else feeling my pain?
Lunges
Hi there, arrange your workouts to what you feel, for example if you do
3 sets of 20 lunges in each direction and you're so sore that you miss your next Workout then that's going to stop your progress, it's better to do less twice a week than more once a week.
If i was you i'd do 3 sets of 10 and bring in the squats as i think they're a much better exercise, then increase your last set by 1 rep every workout (if possible) that way you're not too sore and you keep improving.
Also i'd spend more time on the lower back if your goals are M.A.
Good luck.

re: Your suggestions
Dear Chingo:
Wow...thanks. I really needed to hear your suggestions...especially the one about working on the back. Perhaps I find the back the most difficult of all exercises - which is exactly the reason why I must concentrate on incorporating back exercises into a program and doing them regularly, religiously. Slowly but surely is the key for someone just starting back. If I am going to do the Kurz program I must do it properly. I wish Kurz had a seminar for newbies. Thanks Chingo - your words of wisdom will ring in my ears as I'm working through the tough exercises. Thanks Coach.
